Milcreek Canyon

Here are a few more pictures taken from Milcreek Canyon yesterday. Our dog had sooo much fun in the water. Then...just because it was soo beautiful I had to take a few pictures of the river. I thought they turned out rather nice...so...here they are. And I'm caught up with all my pictures. Finally...life's been crazy lately...I can't wait till it gets crazier and we actually close on our house. Oh YEAH!!!

Hey Mike! My name is Becki and I am a fellow Utah Pea, I'm just new though and haven't posted anything yet :) I love your pictures and hope to get together with the group one of these next times. Anyway, just wanted to say hi.

On the river picture (particularly the landscape one, the first river picture posted--I LOVE it!) how long did you leave your shutter open to get that mist effect?

Holy kamoly, Mike. Those waterfall pictures are incredible. Could you share your tricks with the 2peas buddies? I've tried to get that look but have failed miserably. (But I didn't know I'd failed until I saw YOUR pics!!)

Sorry I missed this post until now. Not sure how I missed it but I did. The best way to get the look your looking for in your waterfall pictures is to set your ISO as low as it can go and then the aperature as high as it can go.

The next thing to do is to find a shady area and or go out as the sun is going down. Make the time as long as possible (sometimes I've had my shutter open for minutes if its getting close to no light left). That means a tripod is necessary to get the right picture.

Another thing that helps is a polarizer filter. When you turn it you'll see how areas get much darker in the river adding to additional contrast and allowing you to "overexpose" the picture a little bit and still allow it to get the details you need.

Hope this helps a bit and I'm always open to having people tag along when I shoot. I usually head out every friday and would love the company. Just let me know if if you guys would ever like to head out.
